On Safari With Curtis From 26 July 2015

26 July 2015

A new tour and the first activity was the sunset drive. A beautiful sunset, a shot of Amarula and then sightings of rhino, kudu, waterbuck, bushbuck, Impala and scrub hare made for a great first experience of the Kruger.

27 July 2015

Today can be split into three parts, two of them were extremely quiet, the third very productive!!!!

The highlight of the day was our hyena sighting. Six adults all outside their den sunbathing. Then after leaving the sighting only to return later we found a young cub, still completely black, suckling from mum.

Our second highlight was a sighting that lasted only about thirty seconds. But this animal is seldom seen and so it is something to savor when it is spotted. The animal in question was a honey badger which as soon as we saw it started to move away. Luckily for us the grass was short and it followed a footpath giving us a bit more time to watch it.

Also seen elephants, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, warthog, kudu, waterbuck, zebra, wildebeest, Vervets, hippo, crocodiles, Impala, steenbok, bushbuck and common duiker.

Birds included southern ground hornbill, black stork, wooly necked stork, African fish eagle, magpie shrike and purple crested turaco.
