On Safari With Robbie 21 January 2016

21 January 2016

This mornings drive was exceptionally quiet with the highlight being a beautiful Sable bull close to us with absolutely beautiful horns ....

With temperatures exceeding 40 degrees we called it at 09-30 and headed out again at 15-00 pm!

We literally came across our first highlight at 16-30 which was a massive bull Hippo who’s water territory had dried up and was trying to enter another bulls water to no avail...

To witness this great bull out the water was a majestic sight but the sadness and reality of the sighting was that there is a good chance that he will not be alive in the morning!

Excellent Elephant, Buffalo and W . Rhino sightings were also quite numerous!

Tomorrow awaits!

On Safari With Amanda and Shannon 19 - 20 January 2016

19 January 2016

After our lovely Swedish guests arrived ready to join the sunset drive with no expectations they came across rhino, buffalo, elephant. When luck struck their side with a beautiful female leopard 2m away from the vehicle in a marula tree.

20 January 2016

Our day started with a early breakfast at 5:30am where after we started the journey through Numbi gate making our way towards Skukuza for our break. We had our usual general game in which we encountered wonderful sightings and had smiles on faces by the time we reached our destination.

We made our way back to camp by 12:30pm in which we had a time off to rest and chill before we took off on our afternoon safari at 4pm. We did numerous loops around the area as well as made our way up to Shithave dam where we sat and watched the beauty of bird life that nature has to offer.

Once again a day to remember!!!

On Safari With Robbie 19 - 20 January 2016

19 January 2016

On James a and Liz last morning it was yet again the local Hyena clan that were going to take the awards!

With brilliant visuals close to us they went about their morning rituals in style....
Interestingly enough they were disturbed by a Buffalo herd and headed underground for cover!

All guests were on sundowner safari where yet again a magnificent Leopard sighting occurred!

Its great to see guests so happy!

20 January 2016

The day was superb with classic Big 5 sightings but the highlights belonged to the following sightings.

A number of rare species were encountered today:
1) The Southern Ground Hornbills were twice encountered snake hunting!
2) There were two absolutely stunning Sable Bulls!
3) We had a Klipspringer pair literally meters away from our vehicle ...
4) Unfortunately we came across 3 dead Hippo ... Signs that the drought is kicking in.

5) However the sighting of the day was the incredibly rare Crowned Eagle spotted near lower Sabie!!!!

On Safari With Robbie From 17 January 2016

17 January 2016

Collecting Liz and James we headed with a positive attitude towards camp where soon they were on a sunset safari!!

Positive was the name of the game where they saw 4/5 and the highlight being a magnificent male leopard snoozing in a large Marula tree!!

18 January 2016

Today Liz requested Giraffe, Rhino and Lion and also said " no pressure " .... All were amazed when all requests were fulfilled but this mornings highlight was undoubtedly the two Black Rhinos we spotted which were simply stunning!

Team England joined us this afternoon and everyone’s top notch sighting for this afternoon went to the 3 leopards on sunset rock in perfect light at 17-55 pm!!!

On safari With Mark From 15 January 2016

15 January 2016

Today we decided to take a ride east to Lower Sabie for breakfast and very happy we did on both going there and our return we had phenomenal sightings of general game as well as a male lion that walked out of the bush right next to our car and then preceded to scent mark his territory.

Our second highlight for the trip was a Nile croc taking a cat fish basically on the edge of sunset dam and approximately 3m from our car. Amazing to see the speed this animal can work to take a fish. With. Couple of bites, it was all gone and the only sign of any activity in the area was the ripples in the water.

Our afternoon was also successful as we found our third leopard for the safari lying in a marola tree 10m from the road. We spent approximately 1:15hrs with the cat hoping it would climb out. Unfortunately we didn't get to see it as it was time to head back to camp while the animal stayed in the tree. Still great to have spent so much time with the beautiful cat.

16 January 2016

This morning we headed out to find a cheetah, however didn't find one. We did get a pack of wild dogs though and all guests got to see them in action as they looked around for something to hunt. After picking up on a herd of Impala, they set off and we lost sight of these fantastic predators.

Guests happy we headed back to camp as they wanted some time off to enjoy the lodge and comfortable accommodation for the afternoon until the set out on the sundown drive.

The guests enjoyed the sundown drive, with a massive elephant bull in musth very close to the car. General game was spotted though out the drive and guests seemed so happy with the sightings that everyone requested to have a relaxing morning with a late breakfast/short drive and then onto JHB so that they could fly back home.

17 January 2016

After enjoying a laid back breakfast it was time to set out in our planned short drive and although many animals were spotted, what was funny was the last 2 sightings for my clients was exactly what the first 2 sightings were. That being a herd of elephant and another herd of buffalo.

With the elephants waving goodbye with their supper sized ears it was off back to JHB and time for me to say goodbye.

Great to have met such fantastic people and glad they could see so much on the 5 day safari.
