Today we set
out at dawn for our long journey to Olifants camp!
The weather
seemed to play against us initially as it took us nearly an hour to find our
first mammal which was a large Elephant bull!
General game
became plentiful with great sightings of Giraffe, Waterbuck, Impala, Zebra, Wildebeest
and Kudu!
After breakfast
our luck changed as we came across a lion pride deep in a dry river bed but
great visuals with binos!
Out of the blue
a friend of mine in a safari vehicle spotted a Leopard on the opposite side of
the road walking towards us!!!
It was
fantastic to have two cat sightings at the same time!
Towards Satara
we must have picked up well over 400 Buffalo with herd movement increasing due
to the approaching dry season!!!
Whilst watching
some Lappet faced vultures preening themselves my guest Wendy spotted what she
said "looked like Rocks!"!!! On closer observation we discovered 4
White Rhino !!!!!
This was probably
at that stage the sighting of the day as finding these Mammals north of Satara
is a rarity in itself !
However the
sighting of the day came in a much smaller package and was a Silver backed
Jackal which crossed the road 11k from Olifants camp! It is very rare to see
these beautiful scavengers let alone get it on the road for great
photographs!!!!
We are now
enjoying the spectacular view of the Olifants river and breathtaking African
bush surrounding it ...... Offered only by this special Kruger camp!
