South African National Parks (SANParks) has appointed Dr Nomvuselelo Songelwa as acting CEO.
Dr Songelwa, who is currently Managing Executive: Parks, assumes her new role today (1 October 2014).
The current acting CEO, Abe Sibiya, has completed the maximum of six months in this role and is returning to his position as Managing Executive: Kruger National Park.
“The appointment of a new CEO is expected to be finalized soon,” SANParks chairman Kuseni Dlamini said yesterday.
“In addition, as part of the board’s general review of governance at SANParks, we intend to appoint a Chief Operating Officer to strengthen the executive. This position will be advertised soon.”
