30 April 2015
Setting out
under a starry sky we were soon transfixed by a magnificent sunrise 30 minutes
after leaving camp!
The highlight
of the day was undoubtedly the Lion and Vulture interaction up at Jones dam! The
6 males were in superb visual range observing the 2 lioness constantly charging
at well over 100 Vultures (4 species noted) trying to get at a well devoured
Buffalo carcass!!
This went on
for well over 1 hour! We also had one of the females come and drink directly in
front of us!!!
Upon leaving
the sighting it still seemed like the franticly ravenous birds were going to
have to wait a bit longer before their bellies got fed!!!
Other sightings
today were loads of Elephant and Buffalo herds, 2 classic W.Rhino sightings, Giraffe,
Impala, Kudu, Nyala, Baboons, Zebra, Waterbuck, Hippos, Crocs and 33 bird
species!

Our last short
morning drive worked for us as we were searching for 2 Carnivores, namely Hyena
and Leopard.
We got the flat
rocks Hyena clan all out on the road making for some superb photographs
especially with the early morning sun!
We missed a
Leopard call in on the radio because of time constraints as Stephanie and Nina
were flying to Livingstone at 11!!!
However they departed
for Vic Falls with great memories of Kruger .... A Park that never ceases to
amaze and fascinate!!!
