On Safari With Mark From 26 September 2015

26 September 2015

After collecting my guests from the airport we entered through the Phalaborwa Gate and headed North to Mopani rest camp for 2 nights. Very Happy as the Mopani bushveld and camp are one of my personal favorites and always remember my first days of guiding in this area.

On route we viewed many different sightings of Buffalo and Elephants. As it was in the heat of the day, many of these sightings were at waterholes where the animals were drinking or cooling themselves down by spraying water over their bodies or just politely lying in the water.

General game was also out and a number of different sighting of Impala, kudu, warthog, zebra and giraffe.

Great start to a safari.

27 September 2015

Brilliant morning drive as we spotted more Impala, kudu, warthog and then came the highlights in the form of 22 Tsessebe's, 6 Eland, 5 zebra, 8 blue wildebeest and 3 warthog all around the same water hole. This was incredible as the Eland was very close to us in comparison to last year when Hugh and Cathy initially saw them. Since then Hugh has wanted a better photo of them and this could be achieved this morning.

We spent some time with them and absolutely enjoyed every moment all to ourselves as though we were the only people on the planet.

Further on down the road we spotted 2 Roan antelope walking parallel with the road. This was amazing for me personally as I haven't spotted these in a very very long time. I am incredibly greatfull to have seen 2 of these fantastic animals within 30m of the car and will have to go down as 1 of my highlights for this Year.

Tomorrow we head north to Shingwetzi camp and know that there will be unique sightings there to. So humbled by what nature offered us so far
