On Safari With Mark From 8 September 2014

8 September 2014

Route : Skukuza airport - tshokwane tar - high level - Elloff - napi – Pretoriuskop

General game sightings: impala, warthog, bushbuck, kudu, waterbuck, steenbok, giraffe, common duiker, chackma baboons, vervet monkeys, hippos, crocodiles, rhinos, elephant and buffalo's.

Highlights: So far we haven't been lucky with cats but as this is a 7 day safari we not to worried at the moment. We have had great sightings of elephant, rhino and herds of buffalo crossing the road or a couple of meters from the road. Guests are happy and want to see everything time and time again.

We wait to see what tomorrow holds and cross our fingers for those elusive cats.

Route: Skukuza- Elloff - lower sabi - Elloff - Skukuza - S65 - napi - Skukuza

General animals: impala, warterbuck, kudu, giraffe, nyala, bushbuck, warthog, chackma baboons, vervet monkeys, hippos, crocodiles, rhino, elephant and buffalo's

Highlights: today was a mind blowing day to see lions. We had a total of 24 lions spotted in 6 different locations all along Elloff.

First it was 5 lioness with 9 cubs approximately 5m off the road. They just lay enjoying the fresh morning sun.

Then we had a lioness walk out onto the road followed by 2 black manned males. We turned the car around and followed them for approximately 2kms while they walked next to our car. They were so close I could of put my hand out and touched their backs.

Then we had a lioness on the rocks at lubyelubey and stopped off for breakfast.

Once we drove back towards skukuza we had another lioness walk past us on the shoulder of the tar followed by two sub-adult lions in a easterly direction.

Turning onto gwatamiri causeway we found a mating couple approximately 100m down the gravel road

Just past alpha exit we found our last male lion (black manned) lying approximately 2m off the tar aswell and this at approximately 12:15pm.

Guests got fantastic photos and couldn't ask for lions closer or they would have to be inside our vehicle.

The afternoon drive was very quiet with only general animals spotted

Now to find the leopard that has Nancy and Bill's name on it and waiting for them to arrive.

More coming soon!!
